Hate is toxic...

Updated: May 3, 2021

"Poison isn’t always something you eat or drink – it can be an emotion. And hate is one of them, eating you up inside and causing destruction."

As kids, we are taught to not "hate" things, yet the people who are teaching us that are the ones who carry hate. How are we supposed to not "hate" when we see it everywhere.

Hating something or someone is a very toxic ideal within human society. It can, most of the time, be more harmful to yourself than to the person who is hated. "Hate" is a word that is tossed around in a casual manner. This casual emotion and feeling that is thrown around can cause aggression and violent behavior in other aspects of life. The worst part about it is that most people who carry hatred do not want to admit to the side effects that come with the emotions. In some, it is worse than others, but I believe hatred has side effects for everyone across the board but may show differently in each person.

While hate and anger are two very different things, they do coincide. A mass amount of hate can create you to hate people who make you angry. In reality, a lot of the time, something that makes you angry is not enough to make you mad at the person, but we still find a way.

Nothing that hate brings is good; still, as humans, we always find a way to hate something, as individuals and as a society.

A great way to disregard the word hate or the feeling of hatred in a real-life situation is by using empathy to subside that emotion. A lot of the time, more often than not, the reason that brought you to hating someone in the first place is because of something they have going on.

As the quote says, hatred is poison, and while you think you are doing yourself good by hating someone for something they did to wrong you, you are only wronging yourself.

It is not easy to stop feeling the emotion of hate, and by the way, it may never go away, but it is essential to recognize that sometimes that emotion can do you more wrong than good.
